Rare Pair Original WWII Nazi German SS Officer & Enlisted Man w Totenkopf Visor Cap Photos

A rare matching pair of original WWII-era German photographs showing SS personnel during an informal visit to a rural farm or agricultural property.

The first photograph shows two uniformed SS men posing with civilians. Both wear peaked SS visor caps displaying the distinctive Totenkopf skull insignia. One man appears to be an officer, while the second is an enlisted/NCO-ranking member. Uniform and insignia details are particularly visible, including their peaked caps, collar insignia, belts, tall boots, and the officer’s decorations.

The second photograph provides another excellent view of the SS officer, standing beside several civilian women in a farmyard. A traditional wooden wagon and substantial thatched-roof agricultural building are visible behind the group.

These photographs are especially interesting because they show the men in a relaxed civilian setting rather than a formal military portrait, providing an unusual glimpse of SS personnel interacting with civilians.

It is worth noting that the Totenkopf on the visor cap alone does not establish membership in the SS-Totenkopfverbände. The skull was used as SS cap insignia more broadly; the SS-Totenkopfverbände were distinguished by the Totenkopf being worn on the right collar patch. The photographs therefore clearly show SS personnel, but I would not attribute them specifically to the SS-Totenkopfverbände without a sufficiently clear view of the relevant collar insignia.

Both photographs retain their attractive original scalloped/deckle edges and appear to have remained together, making them considerably more desirable as a related pair.

Condition: Original period black-and-white photographs with normal age and handling wear. Please see all photographs for exact condition.
