RARE WWII German 63 Soldiers Killed Memorial Cross IR 184 France 1940 Postcard

Original WWII German real photo postcard (RPPC) showing a large wooden battlefield memorial cross erected for fallen German soldiers of Infanterie-Regiment 184 (I.R. 184).

The inscription on the cross reads:

“Hier fielen am 9.6.1940
4 Offiziere und 59 Soldaten des III. I.R. 184
Mit der Waffe in der Hand, für Führer und Vaterland”

Translation:
“Here fell on June 9, 1940, 4 officers and 59 soldiers of the III Battalion, Infantry Regiment 184, with weapons in hand, for Führer and Fatherland.”

The memorial records the deaths of 63 men — 4 officers and 59 soldiers — on June 9, 1940, during the German campaign in France. The cross also displays an Iron Cross emblem above the inscription.
