An outstanding and well-documented original German worker’s insurance archive spanning the Weimar Republic, Third Reich, WWII, and early postwar Federal Republic period. This fascinating grouping belonged to Hubert Florax (born 1893) and chronicles decades of employment and social insurance history through an original insurance booklet and numerous accompanying official documents.

At the heart of the collection is the original “Sammelbuch der Bescheinigungen über die Endzahlen aus der Aufrechnung der Quittungskarten”, a booklet used to preserve official certificates relating to Germany’s Invalidity Insurance (Invalidenversicherung). These booklets were intended to safeguard a worker’s insurance records and pension entitlement calculations in the event that original contribution cards were lost.

The booklet contains numerous completed Quittungskarten (receipt card) entries from the early 1920s through the Second World War, many bearing official company and insurance office stamps. Several pages feature the distinctive Third Reich national eagle with swastika used on official Betriebskrankenkasse (factory health insurance) markings of the period.

Included:

  • Original worker’s insurance “Sammelbuch”
  • Numerous completed Quittungskarten entries
  • Official Invalidenversicherung certificates
  • Westfalen Landesversicherungsanstalt pension correspondence
  • 1957 replacement receipt card paperwork
  • 1958 pension approval and payment documents
  • Additional insurance calculation sheets and supporting paperwork
  • Original company and insurance office stamps throughout

Historical Highlights:

  • Covers approximately 1920 through 1958
  • Documents employment with Basse & Selve AG, Altena (Westphalia), an important German metalworking and industrial manufacturer
  • Tracks one worker’s insurance, employment, and pension history across multiple German governments
  • Includes wartime and postwar continuation of official insurance records
  • Excellent resource for collectors of German labor history, genealogy, industrial history, and social insurance documentation

The documents remain in overall very good original condition with expected age toning, folds, filing holes, handwritten entries, official stamps, and normal handling wear accumulated over decades of use.

A rare and historically significant archival grouping illustrating the everyday administrative history of a German industrial worker from the Weimar era through the Third Reich and into postwar Germany.
