WW1 – WW2 Era American Military & Uniform Button Lot – U.S. Army Navy Eagle Medical & State Buttons

Interesting mixed lot of 8 original antique military, naval, uniform and service buttons, featuring several different American designs, sizes and manufacturers. A great group for the military uniform, insignia and historical button collector.

The lot includes several especially attractive pieces:

• Two large U.S. military eagle buttons with early-style American eagle and shield designs.
• Large U.S. Navy button featuring “USN” with anchor.
• Large eagle button marked “VMI” beneath the eagle, apparently associated with the Virginia Military Institute.
• Highly polished silver-tone medical/service button featuring a raised winged caduceus-style medical insignia.
• Smaller gold-tone figural button with detailed central design.
• Small gold-tone button with shield and figural motif.
• Additional early uniform/service button.

Several backs retain clearly visible maker markings, including Waterbury Button Co., Scovill Mfg. Co., and other markings. Different attachment styles are represented, including shank and loop-type backs.

These buttons show honest age, oxidation, patina, finish wear and surface variation, particularly on the older brass and bronze-tone examples. The aged surfaces have not been polished away and give the group excellent display character.
