WW2 German Red Cross DRK München Members Holiday Homes Price List Document

Original period Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross) informational sheet issued by the Kreisgemeinschaft München-Stadt for its members and their families.

Headed “Wichtig! Aufheben!” (“Important! Keep this!”), the document lists German Red Cross homes available to members for vacation and recreational stays, together with the daily prices for adults and children.

The listed DRK homes include Walchensee in Upper Bavaria, Marzell in the Karlsruhe district, Harzburg-Bündheim, Bad Schwarzbach in the Riesengebirge, Biedenkopf an der Lahn, Sobernheim an der Nahe, and Heringsdorf. Addresses of the corresponding DRK regional offices are also provided.

Prices generally ranged from approximately RM 2.50–4.50 per day for adults and RM 1.80–2.75 for children, depending upon the home and accommodation class.

The lower section explains that the price included four meals per day, described as “gute bürgerliche Küche” (“good traditional home-style cooking”). Baths and use of reclining chairs were charged separately, and family members of Red Cross members paid an additional RM 0.50 per day.

The sheet concludes by noting that all of the homes were located in particularly attractive landscapes with favorable climates. It is issued:

An interesting piece of German Red Cross social-history ephemera showing the recreational and member-benefit side of the organization during the period. The German Red Cross underwent major organizational changes during the 1933–45 era, making surviving administrative and membership material useful for documenting its activities beyond medical and emergency services.
