WW2 German Third Reich HJ Hitler Youth BDM Girls Females Gruppe IV Obergau 12-14-15 Rally Gathering Photo

Interesting original Third Reich-era German photograph showing a large gathering of young women beneath a prominently displayed organizational sign reading:

“Gruppe IV (Obergau 12–14–15)”

The terminology strongly connects the scene with the Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM) organizational system. Period organizational records show that the BDM was divided geographically into Obergaue, which were large regional formations containing multiple subordinate districts.

The numbers 12, 14 and 15 therefore appear to identify the participating BDM regional organizations grouped together as Gruppe IV for this event. The precise names assigned to Obergau numbers changed during reorganizations, so I would retain the numbers visible in the photograph rather than assign specific regions without being able to date the event more precisely. Period sources confirm that Obergau numbering and regional designations changed over time.

The photograph shows numerous young women gathered beneath the sign, apparently entering or assembling at a substantial building. This could represent a BDM rally, leadership gathering, training event or other organized regional meeting.

The reverse carries the handwritten notation “Neu Gynnasium” or similar; the exact spelling/location is difficult to establish from the handwriting alone.

Photograph measures approximately 3¼ x 3¼ inches (about 8.3 x 8.3 cm) and retains attractive period deckle/scalloped edges.

Condition: Original vintage photograph with normal age and handling wear. Image remains sharp with the organizational sign exceptionally clear. Reverse has period handwritten notation. Please examine all photographs for exact condition.

An excellent piece of original photographic documentation for a collection focused on BDM organization, German youth history, women’s history and Third Reich social history.
