WW2 German Third Reich Tirol Austria Mountain Postcard w Edelweiss Flower Stamp

Offered here is an original WW2 Era German/Austrian real photo postcard showing the Karwendelhaus in Tirol (Tyrol) against the dramatic mountain backdrop of the Ödkarspitze / Oedkarspitze in the Karwendel Alps.

The front is captioned:

“Karwendelhaus 1790 m, gegen die Oedkarspitze 2682 m.”

Translation:

“Karwendelhaus, 1,790 meters, looking toward the Oedkarspitze, 2,682 meters.”

The image provides a beautiful early view of the Karwendelhaus mountain refuge surrounded by the rugged peaks of the Karwendel range.

The reverse is marked:

“Echte Fotografiekarte”

Translation: “Real Photograph Postcard.”

A particularly nice feature is the large purple Karwendelhaus 1790 m hut stamp bearing an edelweiss emblem and:

“D.U.Oe.A.V.
Sekt. Männer-Turn-Ver. München”

This refers to the German and Austrian Alpine Association and the Munich section associated with the hut.

The reverse also has “Tirol” handwritten at the top and additional period pencil writing. The card was apparently not postally mailed and has no postage stamp or postal cancellation.
