Original 1941 WHW Winterhilfswerk Invoice 2,000 Rohware Nr. 9 Tiroler Seiffen

Description

Excellent original WHW Winterhilfswerk 1941/42 “Auftrag und Rechnung” (Order and Invoice) documenting a production lot of 2,000 unfinished pieces, specifically identified as:

“2000 Stück Rohware Nr. 9 – Tiroler”
2,000 pieces raw/unfinished goods, No. 9 – Tyrolean

Issued on behalf of the Winterhilfswerk des Deutschen Volkes, Berlin, the document features the large WHW eagle and swastika emblem and provides unusually detailed information concerning the commercial production process behind WHW collectibles.

The production price is recorded as:

RM 13.26 per 1,000 pieces = RM 26.56 total

The upper-right box is specifically headed:

“Stempel des Rohwarenherstellers”
Stamp of the raw-goods manufacturer

and contains a strong purple factory stamp for:

Theodor Morgenstern sen.
Holz- u. Spielwarenfabrik
Sägewerk
Seiffen i. Erzgeb.

This identifies Theodor Morgenstern Sr. of Seiffen in the Erzgebirge as the manufacturer of the unfinished pieces. Seiffen is particularly associated with the historic Erzgebirge wood and toy-making industry.

Even more interesting, the “an den Bemaler” (to the painter) section is handwritten:

Theodor Morgenstern sen.
Seiffen

indicating the pieces were also directed to Morgenstern for their painting/finishing.

Payment is recorded as:

14 May 1941

by Check No. 72957.

The lower portion additionally bears the original purple stamp:

Julius Gläser
engros Spielwaren Export
Zöblitz i. Erzgeb.

The left margin states:

“Bezahlung erfolgt nur gegen Rückgabe dieses Formulares”
“Payment will be made only upon return of this form.”

This is an excellent primary-source production document connecting the WHW organization, an actual 2,000-piece production lot, the raw-goods manufacturer, painter/finisher, distributor, production cost and payment information on a single surviving form.

A particularly desirable companion document for collectors of the corresponding WHW Nr. 9 “Tiroler” piece or anyone researching the Erzgebirge firms responsible for producing WHW fundraising collectibles.

Original period condition with expected handling and administrative wear, two punched filing holes, handwritten entries, original ink stamps, minor creasing and age-related marks. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition.
