Original 1941 WHW Winterhilfswerk Invoice 2,000 Rohware Nr. 5 Biedermeier
Description
Excellent original WHW Winterhilfswerk 1941/42 “Auftrag und Rechnung” (Order and Invoice) documenting the production and finishing of 2,000 WHW pieces, identified on the form as:
“2000 Stück Rohware Nr. 5 – Biedermeier”
2,000 pieces raw/unpainted goods, No. 5 – Biedermeier
The document was issued on behalf of the Winterhilfswerk des Deutschen Volkes, Berlin and features the prominent WHW eagle and swastika emblem at the top.
The price is recorded as:
RM 14.11 per 1,000 pieces = RM 28.22 total
Unlike other similar documents we have listed this is a finished-badge invoice, this document specifically uses “Rohware,” meaning raw or unfinished goods, making it particularly interesting because it helps document the manufacturing chain for WHW collectibles before painting and final completion.
The upper-right section is marked:
“Stempel des Rohwarenherstellers”
Stamp of the manufacturer of the unfinished goods
and bears the original purple company stamp:
Maschinen- u. Holzwarenfabrik
Louis H. Seipt & Söhne
Heidersdorf i. E. (Eisenz[eche])
This identifies the company responsible for manufacturing the unfinished pieces.
The form then has a separate entry:
“an den Bemaler” – “to the painter”
with a handwritten name/address, apparently identifying the person or firm to whom the unfinished pieces were sent for painting/finishing.
The lower section records payment on:
21 August 1941
by Check No. 72973.
It also bears the purple distributor/publisher stamp:
Julius Gläser
engros Spielwaren Export
Zöblitz i. Erzgeb.
The left margin states:
“Bezahlung erfolgt nur gegen Rückgabe dieses Formulares”
“Payment will be made only upon return of this form.”
This is a particularly interesting primary-source WHW document because it records an actual 2,000-piece production lot, the raw-goods manufacturer, transfer to a painter/finisher, wholesale/export firm, production cost and payment information.
It provides an excellent behind-the-scenes look at how WHW fundraising collectibles were commercially manufactured and finished during the 1941/42 Winterhilfswerk campaign.
Original period document showing normal age and administrative use, including two punched filing holes, handwritten entries, original company stamps, light handling wear and minor marks. Please examine all photographs for exact condition.
