Interesting item for the WHW collector!

Original 1941 WHW Winterhilfswerk Order Invoice – 2,000 Wooden Farmer Figures

Original WWII German Winterhilfswerk des Deutschen Volkes (WHW) order and invoice from the 1941/42 Winter Relief campaign, dated 16 September 1941.

This is an excellent piece of original Third Reich home-front and WHW paperwork documenting a substantial order for 2,000 wooden pieces intended for the WHW program.

The document is headed with the German eagle and swastika and:

“WHW 1941/42 – Auftrag und Rechnung”
“WHW 1941/42 – Order and Invoice”

The printed text states:

“Im Namen des Winterhilfswerkes des Deutschen Volkes, Berlin, werden geliefert:”
“On behalf of the Winter Relief Organization of the German People, Berlin, the following are to be supplied:”

The order itself reads:

“2000 Stück Rohware Nr. 7 – Bauer”
“2,000 pieces unfinished/raw item No. 7 – Farmer.”

The price was RM 12.94 per 1,000 pieces, giving a total invoice value of RM 25.88.

The handwritten “an den Bemaler” section appears to identify the painter/finisher and gives Olbernhau, Saxony. The upper-right “Stempel des Rohwarenherstellers” translates as “stamp of the manufacturer of the unfinished goods” and contains handwritten manufacturer information.

The payment section is clearly dated:

“Bezahlt am: 16. Sept. 1941”
“Paid on September 16, 1941”

with check number appearing as 75309.

At the bottom is a period purple business stamp:

Julius Gläser
engros Spielwaren Export
Zöblitz i. Erzgeb.

Approximately:

“Julius Gläser – Wholesale Toy Export – Zöblitz in the Erzgebirge.”

This is an especially interesting feature because the Erzgebirge region of Saxony was famous for its traditional wooden toy and figure industry. This invoice therefore provides direct period documentation of the manufacturing chain behind wooden WHW items—from unfinished wooden pieces through painting/finishing and distribution.

The left perforated margin reads:

“Bezahlung erfolgt nur gegen Rückgabe dieses Formulares”
“Payment will only be made upon return of this form.”

A fascinating original piece of WHW manufacturing and economic history, much more informative than a generic WHW receipt. It records the production of a specific wooden figure—the “Bauer” (Farmer), No. 7—in a quantity of 2,000 pieces and retains the original handwritten accounting entries and Julius Gläser Erzgebirge toy-export stamp.

Condition: Very good original used condition considering its age. Period handwriting and stamps remain visible, with two original punched holes along the left margin and normal age, handling and storage wear. Please inspect all photographs for exact condition.

Historical artifact offered for collecting, preservation, research and educational purposes.
