Original July 1936 issue of “Ewiges Deutschland”, a period German illustrated monthly published during the Third Reich era. The cover is dated Juli 1936, originally priced 10 Pfennig, and identifies the publication as the “Monatliches Mitteilungsblatt der NS-Volkswohlfahrt” — Monthly Information Bulletin of the NS People’s Welfare organization. Contemporary catalog information also identifies Ewiges Deutschland as a monthly illustrated publication for German readers.

This is a particularly interesting surviving issue because it contains numerous illustrated articles documenting the social, political and welfare organizations of Germany in 1936. Interior material shown includes NSV welfare work, NSDAP-related material, children’s programs, rural settlements, recreation homes and political ideology, along with period photographs, illustrations and distinctive typography.

Notable contents visible in this issue include:

  • “Auf dem Schlachtfeld der Ehre geblieben” — a heavily illustrated political article with prominent swastika imagery and a fallen uniformed figure.
  • “20 Kinder und ein junges Mädel” — an account by a female transport escort accompanying children to Württemberg, illustrated with a period photograph.
  • “Morgenbesuch im Buchholz bei Naumburg” — a large photographic spread showing an NSV children’s recreation facility, including children, buildings and an official wearing a swastika armband.
  • “Nudersdorf – ein kleines Paradies” — illustrated coverage of a school and settlement, including photographs of the school building and opening ceremony.
  • “Grenzbau” — illustrated article concerning German workers/builders in a border region.
  • “Wir nähen uns Sommerkleider” — women’s summer fashion and sewing article with multiple 1930s dress illustrations.
  • Additional material concerning NSV Kindererholung, welfare activities, work, community life and National Socialist social programs.

The magazine is in very heavily used and distressed original condition, which is clearly visible in the photographs. The covers and pages have substantial edge loss, tears, chips, staining, creasing, separation and other age/use wear as the paper with these is very fragile. Several areas have significant paper loss, including portions along the margins and top edges. Despite the condition, a considerable amount of the original illustrated content survives, making this an interesting research/display example of an uncommon period NS welfare publication.

A surviving July 1936 example is independently cataloged as an original period issue, helping confirm the date and publication identification.
