WW2 Nazi German Third Reich Building Courtyard Large Swastika Banners Photo

Very striking original Third Reich-era German photograph showing the courtyard of a substantial German institutional or government-style building decorated with two enormous vertical swastika banners.

The photograph was taken from an elevated position looking down into the enclosed courtyard. The architectural details are excellent, including the large columned entrance, stone steps, masonry façade and surrounding multi-story structure. A lone woman can be seen standing near the entrance, providing an excellent sense of scale—the hanging banners are exceptionally large.

Large vertical swastika banners were widely used to decorate German public buildings and institutional structures during the Third Reich period. Contemporary photographs held by major archives document similar large banners displayed on building façades during official events and celebrations.

The swastika flag became Germany’s sole national flag in September 1935, so if these are being displayed as national rather than purely Party flags, the scene would be consistent with the 1935–1945 period. The photograph itself does not provide enough information to identify the exact building or location with confidence.

The photograph measures approximately 3¾ x 3¼ inches (about 9.5 x 8.3 cm) and has attractive period deckle/scalloped edges.

Condition: Original vintage photograph with normal age and handling wear. Image remains sharp and has very good contrast, particularly on the architecture and banners. Reverse is essentially blank apart from faint old pencil/collector markings. Please examine all photographs for exact condition.

An excellent architectural photograph with unusually prominent period banners and an interesting elevated courtyard perspective.
