WW2 Nazi German Third Reich Womens Org. 1944 NSDAP NS-Frauenschaft Letter Document HEIL HITLER!

Original September 30, 1944 NSDAP / NS-Frauenschaft wartime letter from Gau Westfalen-Süd, Kreis Ennepe-Ruhr, issued at Gevelsberg, Germany during the final year of WWII.

This is an especially interesting piece of Third Reich home-front history because the actual contents discuss how wartime circumstances forced the cancellation of a training course. The letter is addressed to Fräulein Sassenscheid and explains that a course begun in Welper could no longer continue.

The document states that the kitchen in the Horstschule had been requisitioned/confiscated. An attempt was then made to continue the work at the Jugendherberge (youth hostel), but this also proved impossible. Consequently, the course had to be terminated.

The recipient had already conducted three evenings of the course and was instructed to keep food provisions available for the remaining seven evenings, pending further instructions.

English Translation

“Dear Miss Sassenscheid,

It has now been quite some time since the course in Welper began and could not be continued. After the kitchen in the Horst School was requisitioned, we initially thought of continuing our work in the youth hostel. However, this is now also impossible, so that the course unfortunately has to be discontinued.

You have so far conducted three evenings and therefore must still have food provisions for seven evenings. I ask you to keep these ready. I do not yet know when or by whom they will be collected. You will receive notification about this.

The final departmental designation is cut off/incomplete at the right edge of the typed text.

The letter concludes with the period political salutation “Heil Hitler!” followed by an original signature.

At the bottom is an excellent large circular official ink stamp reading:

“Nationalsoz. Deutsche Arbeiterpartei – Nationalsoz. Frauenschaft – Kreis Ennepe-Ruhr”

with the party eagle and swastika prominently displayed in the center.

This is a particularly evocative late-war document because its contents directly reflect the increasing disruption of ordinary NS-Frauenschaft activities and food arrangements in Germany by September 1944.

Condition: Original used condition with expected age toning, scattered spotting, handling wear and a prominent horizontal fold across the center. The right edge of several typed lines runs extremely close to or slightly beyond the paper edge. Please see photographs for exact condition.
