WWI 1914 German Soldier Feldpost Machine Gun MG Company Firing Position Postcard

Original WWI German military Feldpost postcard, postally used in 1914, featuring a colorful illustration of a German machine-gun company in a firing position.

The printed caption reads:

“Maschinengewehrcompagnie in Feuerstellung.”

Translation:

“Machine-Gun Company in Firing Position.”

The detailed scene shows several German soldiers operating belt-fed machine guns from a prepared defensive position, while mounted troops and an officer appear nearby. A windmill and village buildings provide an interesting background to the military scene.

The reverse is printed “Feldpostkarte” and contains an extensive handwritten wartime message in old German script. It was mailed from Strassburg (Elsass) with a clearly dated postal cancellation of December 2, 1914, making this a very early-war example from only a few months after the outbreak of WWI.

The card was addressed to Richard Schander in Wolfenbüttel, Grimm Platz 11.

A particularly attractive original WWI postcard for collectors of German machine-gun units, early-war Feldpost, Imperial German Army material and Alsace postal history.

Condition shows expected age and postal wear, including rounded/worn corners, edge wear, toning and handling marks. The artwork remains colorful and displays very well.
