WWI Austria Hungary Germany Patriotic Military War Postcard Sieg Friede Heimkehr

Original World War I Austro-Hungarian patriotic postcard featuring an attractive allegorical design celebrating the Central Powers and the hoped-for victory, peace, and return of the soldiers.

The front bears the German inscription:

“Sieg – Friede – Heimkehr.”

Translation:

“Victory – Peace – Homecoming.”

The artwork depicts a classical female figure holding aloft a victory laurel wreath, while mounted troops and military standards appear through the haze in the background. Below the figure are three prominent heraldic shields surrounded by laurel.

The coats of arms represent the principal Central Powers shown on the card:

• Imperial Germany – German Imperial eagle
• Austria – Imperial Austrian double-headed eagle
• Kingdom of Hungary – Hungarian coat of arms with the Holy Crown of St. Stephen

Original period postcard in very nice overall condition for its age. Some light toning, minor edge/corner wear and normal age-related surface marks may be present. The illustrated front retains strong detail and attractive coloration. Reverse is unused. Please examine the photographs carefully for exact condition.
