WWI German Feldpost Postcard 1915 Trench Dugout Bunker Soldiers Schützengraben

Original WWI German military Feldpost postcard, dated 20 February 1915, showing two Imperial German soldiers beside a concealed entrance leading into a trench or dugout position.

The printed caption reads:

“Abgedeckter Eingang zum Schützengraben.”
Translation: “Covered entrance to the trench.”

This is a particularly nice real photographic trench scene, showing the entrance heavily concealed beneath earth, logs, branches and vegetation. Two German soldiers are positioned alongside it, with one seated at a makeshift table. Their uniforms and field caps are clearly visible, along with equipment and other small details of life at a frontline position.

The reverse identifies the publisher as:

“Kunst- u. Verlagsanstalt Schaar & Dathe, Komm.-Ges. a. Akt., Trier.”

Other documented examples of this exact “Abgedeckter Eingang zum Schützengraben” postcard are attributed to Schaar & Dathe and dated to approximately 1915–1916, including examples mailed as Feldpost from France.

This example is handwritten “Feldpostkarte” and dated 20.2.15 (February 20, 1915). It is addressed to Frau Martha Raschert/Raspert in Coburg, at what appears to be Löwenstraße 21.

The handwritten message is a short greeting and appears to read approximately:

“Viele Grüße sendet dir und … dein Alvin. Auf Wiedersehen!”

Approximate translation:

“Many greetings are sent to you and … Your Alvin. See you again!”

A desirable early-war postcard with excellent German trench warfare / dugout subject matter, and especially collectible as an actual 1915 Feldpost-used example rather than an unused card.

Card is numbered Nr. 126 on the reverse.
