WWI Imperial German 1915 Iron Cross Medal Patriotic Postcard Heil und Sieg Augsburg

Original World War I Imperial German patriotic postcard, mailed in 1915, featuring a striking color illustration centered around the 1914 Iron Cross.

The front depicts a large Iron Cross dated 1914, surmounted by the Imperial crown and “W,” surrounded by oak leaves and an Imperial German war flag. A large German Imperial eagle appears faintly in the background.

Below the design is the patriotic inscription:

“Heil und Sieg!”

Translation: “Hail and Victory!” or “Salvation and Victory!” in the patriotic wartime sense.

The reverse is fully handwritten and bears a Bavarian 5 Pfennig postage stamp tied by an Augsburg circular postmark. The handwritten date at upper left appears to read Augsburg, 26/III 15 — March 26, 1915, placing the card firmly during the First World War.
