WWI Imperial German 1915 Patriotic Postcard Imperial Eagle Flag New Year Austria

Original World War I German patriotic postcard, postally used in December 1915, featuring a particularly attractive multicolor Imperial design.

The front shows a large German Imperial eagle beneath the Imperial crown, surrounded by an impressive display of German and allied flags, military standards, oak leaves and laurel. The central motto reads:

“Auf mein Deutschland schirm dein Haus!”
Approximate translation: “Protect your home, my Germany!”

The larger inscription reads:

“Deutschlands Aar schützt unser Land!”
“Beste Wünsche zum Neujahrstage!”

Translation:

“Germany’s eagle protects our land! Best wishes for New Year’s Day!”

This makes the card a desirable WWI New Year / Neujahr patriotic greeting card, apparently sent at the end of 1915 for the approaching New Year of 1916.

The reverse is handwritten and postmarked:

The destination is clearly written as:

Österreich — Austria
Linz a. D. — Linz an der Donau / Linz on the Danube

The remainder of the address includes Bergschlössl, with additional recipient/address information written below.

The short handwritten message appears to consist primarily of holiday/New Year greetings. There are also several crossed-out address lines, giving the reverse an interesting genuine postal-history appearance.

Condition

Good original wartime condition with expected age toning, light edge and corner wear, minor spotting and normal postal handling. Writing and postmark remain clearly visible. Please examine the photographs carefully for exact condition.
