WWI Imperial German Feldpost 1915 40th Infantry Division XIX Corps Soldier Postcard

Original WWI Imperial German Feldpostkarte, mailed in October 1915 and filled out with unusually detailed military unit information.

The address side identifies the soldier’s formation as:

XIX. Armeekorps
40. Infanterie-Division
181. Reserve-Depot im Felde

The 40th Infantry Division was a Royal Saxon formation of the Imperial German Army and served under the XIX (2nd Royal Saxon) Army Corps. Its wartime organization included Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 181, making the unit information written on this card especially interesting.

The card bears a clear Cöln-Lindenthal postal cancellation dated:

25.10.15 – 3-4 N

The recipient appears to be Soldat Oskar Fließbach. The sender’s information is handwritten along the left edge.

The message side is headed:
