WWI Imperial German Military Feldpost Postcard Photo Lot Soldier Portraits 1917

Original WWI-era group of 4 postcards and photographs, including two interesting European location postcards and two period portrait photographs.

Included in the lot:

• Lublin – Sächsischer Garten – early postcard showing the Saxon Garden in Lublin, Poland, with pavilion, benches and people.
• Pagny a. Mosel – Zerschossene Zementfabrik – translates to “Pagny on the Moselle – Shot-Up/Destroyed Cement Factory.” An especially interesting WWI view showing extensive wartime damage to the factory buildings and rubble.
• German soldier portrait – full-length outdoor photograph of a young uniformed soldier wearing peaked cap, tunic, belt and gloves.
• Studio portrait photograph – portrait of a young man in period clothing.

Two of the cards are postally used with handwritten German correspondence and period cancellations. One is clearly dated 28 December 1917, placing the group during the First World War period.

The Pagny-sur-Moselle card is particularly interesting as a WWI war-damage postcard, documenting destruction to an industrial facility in the Moselle region.

All four pieces show genuine age and handling with varying edge/corner wear, toning, staining, creases and surface wear. The soldier photograph has heavier wear and staining as shown. Please examine photos carefully for exact condition.
