Original WWI-era German military photo postcard showing a large group of Imperial German soldiers posed outside the Haupt-Wache (Main Guard) at Maaseik, Belgium.

The photograph shows approximately 20 soldiers in uniform, many wearing the distinctive Pickelhaube spiked helmet. At left, a soldier stands guard while holding his rifle in front of the striped sentry box. A sign beside the entrance clearly reads “Haupt-Wache”.

The caption at the bottom reads:

“Gruss aus Maaseik”
Translation: “Greetings from Maaseik.”

Maaseik was in German-occupied Belgium during WWI, making this an interesting occupation-era military image. German troops were documented in the Maaseik district during the war.

The reverse is unused and has the standard divided postcard layout. Printed number 40.8 appears near the bottom.

Nice sharp group photograph with excellent uniform, Pickelhaube, rifle, sentry-box, and guard-post details.

Original period postcard, not a modern reproduction. Shows normal age, edge/corner wear, toning, and surface wear as pictured.
