WWII German Feldpost 1943 Soldier Girl Risque Sexual Postcard Braunau Military Mail

Original WWII German Feldpost postcard, mailed in 1943, featuring a colorful humorous and somewhat risqué illustration of a German soldier relaxing in the woods beside a young woman, with a basket of blackberries nearby.

The card is headed:

“Es wollt’ ein Mädchen früh aufsteh’n…”
“A young girl wanted to get up early…”

The printed verses tell an old humorous German story/song about a girl who goes into the forest early in the morning to gather blackberries. She encounters the hunter’s servant and later the hunter’s son. The story becomes increasingly suggestive, eventually revealing that three-quarters of a year later the girl has a child on her lap.

One humorous passage translates approximately:

“She looks compassionately at the child: ‘Oh God, what is this? Are those the brown berries that I ate?’”

The final verses jokingly warn against sending a pretty dark-haired girl into the woods because the hunters will quickly seduce the girls.

Feldpost Postal History

The reverse is handwritten and dated:

Braunau am Inn, 25.1.43

It carries a clear BRAUNAU AM INN – 25.1.43 postal cancellation.

Importantly, this card was mailed through the German Feldpost military postal system and therefore required no postage stamp. There is no missing stamp — the absence of postage is part of its original wartime Feldpost usage.

The card is marked G+S 28 at the lower left.
