The Sicherheits- und Hilfsdienst, or Security and Assistance Service, formed an important part of Germany’s wartime civil-defense organization. SHD personnel were involved in emergency response associated with air raids, including rescue work, recovery operations, firefighting assistance, decontamination, and other civil-defense duties.

This matching pair features green wool/felt construction with distinctive green and silver twisted piping around the perimeter. Each tab has the characteristic white embroidered SHD device/designation on the front.
