Excellent original WWII German Wehrmacht Berechtigungsschein, an official military authorization for the one-time free use of the railway in the German-occupied territories of Western Europe.
This example was issued on 19 August 1941 to Soldat Paul Boenig for a 3rd-class railway journey from Dixmude (Diksmuide) to Ostende (Ostend), Belgium. The stated purpose is “Dienstreise,” meaning official duty/business travel.
The printed heading translates as:
“Authorization certificate for the one-time free use of the railway in the occupied territories of the West.”
A particularly desirable feature is the large, clearly struck Wehrmacht Dienststempel with eagle insignia. The document is also signed by a Leutnant and Kompanie-Führer, giving it excellent original military character and provenance.
This document is especially interesting because it is directly connected to the separately issued Sonderausweis for Soldat Paul Boenig dated the same day, documenting his military travel in occupied Belgium. The companion Sonderausweis authorized travel involving Dixmude on 19 August 1941, while this railway authorization specifically records his journey from Dixmude to Ostende. Together, these documents provide an unusually strong snapshot of an individual Wehrmacht soldier’s official movements during the occupation of Belgium.

These characteristics are consistent with a document that was folded and carried during wartime service. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition.
