Original WWII German Wehrmacht Sonderausweis (Special Travel Permit) issued to Soldat Paul Boenig on 19 August 1941. This is an excellent wartime field document with strong military markings, including Dienststelle: Feldpost-Nr. 16956 B, an official Wehrmacht eagle service stamp, and the signature of a Leutnant und Kompanie-Führer.
The permit authorized Boenig to travel to Dixmude (Diksmuide), Belgium, with the stated purpose “Abholen von Gepäck,” meaning “to collect/pick up baggage.” The document specifies travel and return on 19 August 1941, making it a precisely dated artifact from the German occupation of Belgium.
The large circular Dienststempel is especially attractive and clearly displays the Wehrmacht eagle insignia along with the Feldpost number 16956 B. Feldpost numbers were used to conceal the identities and locations of German military formations, making numbered and stamped documents like this particularly interesting for further unit research.
The reverse contains the printed regulations governing the use of the Sonderausweis, including instructions concerning presentation to Wehrmacht authorities, confidentiality, medical treatment while traveling, return travel, and surrender of the permit after completion of the journey.
A very displayable and researchable piece of original WWII German military paperwork with a named soldier, exact date, destination in occupied Belgium, Feldpost identification, officer signature, and prominent official military stamp.
