WWII Nazi German Bronze Infantry Assault Badge Medal IAB – Hollow Pressed

Offered here is an exceptionally high-quality vintage reproduction of the WWII German Infantry Assault Badge in Bronze, or Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Bronze. This is a particularly attractive older copy featuring the desirable hollow-pressed construction associated with many early-period examples.

The Bronze Infantry Assault Badge was instituted on June 1, 1940, following the introduction of the original Silver grade in December 1939. The Bronze grade was primarily awarded to members of motorized and mechanized infantry units who fulfilled the required combat criteria, including participation in infantry assaults or counterattacks on three separate days.

The classic design consists of a vertically oval oak-leaf wreath with acorns, surmounted by the German Army eagle and swastika. A detailed Karabiner 98k rifle with fixed bayonet and sling runs diagonally across the center of the badge.

What makes this particular reproduction especially interesting is its hollow pressed/stamped construction. This is not simply a modern solid casting—the badge was produced in the traditional hollow form, giving the reverse the negative impression of the detailed obverse. Early original Infantry Assault Badges are well documented in hollow construction, with both Tombak and later zinc examples known.

The front has an attractive aged bronze finish with darker recessed areas, which brings out the feathering of the eagle, individual oak leaves and acorns, rifle, bayonet and sling. The resulting appearance gives the badge considerable depth and character.

The reverse retains the full hollow impression of the design and is equipped with a traditional vertical pin, barrel-style hinge and retaining catch. The combination of the pressed construction, detailed hardware and aged finish makes this an unusually convincing and display-worthy vintage reproduction.

IMPORTANT: This is a vintage reproduction/copy and is NOT being represented or sold as an original WWII-manufactured Infantry Assault Badge.

An excellent piece for a Wehrmacht infantry collection, vintage reproduction collection, reenactment uniform, historical display, replacement decoration or WWII militaria collection.
