WWII Nazi German Third Reich 1940 New Year Best Wishes Postcard Lucky Horseshoe Mushrooms

Original 1940 WWII-era German New Year greeting postcard featuring a colorful traditional good-luck design.

The front depicts a large January 1 calendar page, evergreen branches, a horseshoe and red-and-white mushrooms—all traditional symbols of luck and prosperity for the coming year.

The German greeting reads:

“Die besten Wünsche zum neuen Jahre”

Translation:

“Best wishes for the New Year.”

The reverse contains a handwritten German New Year message and is postally used with a clear December 21, 1940 cancellation. The stamp has been removed, but the postal cancellation remains visible. Addressed to Lindau-Reutin, Kemptener Str. 76.

A nice dated wartime German holiday postcard with classic New Year imagery and attractive period artwork.

Condition is as shown with age toning, edge/corner wear, light staining and handling wear. Stamp has been removed from the reverse.
