Original WWII-era German Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF / German Labor Front) document grouping belonging to Wilhelm Haverich of Bremen, born 3 January 1920. An excellent matched group documenting one man’s vocational training and advancement from an apprentice toolmaker through technical courses and ultimately Werkmeister (foreman/master craftsman) training.
The collection consists of 10 related documents, including an attractive original DAF Berufserziehungswerk certificate with the DAF cogwheel emblem, period signatures and official Bremen stamp, together with typed certified copies (Abschriften) of Haverich’s training and examination records.
The documents provide an unusually detailed picture of Haverich’s technical career. Among the material are records showing:
- 1934–1938 apprenticeship: Haverich completed his apprenticeship as a Werkzeugschlosser (tool fitter/toolmaker) at Deutsche Schiff- und Maschinenbau Aktiengesellschaft, Werk A.G. “Weser,” Bremen.
- 31 March 1938 examination: Passed his practical and theoretical examination as a Werkzeugmacher (toolmaker). His practical result is recorded as recht gut (“quite good/very satisfactory”) and theoretical result as gut (“good”).
- 1938–1941: DAF vocational-training certificate for preparation for admission to the state engineering school (staatliche Ing.-Schule).
- 1942: DAF technical drawing course, Technisches Zeichnen II, 20 double periods.
- 1942: DAF Fachrechnen III advanced technical calculation course, 20 double periods.
- 1942–43: Technisches Zeichnen III technical drawing course, 21 double periods.
- 1943–1944: DAF Werkmeisterausbildung — foreman/master craftsman training, covering the first and second semesters.
- 1944 original DAF certificate: Issued in Bremen for Haverich’s Werkmeisterausbildung, bearing the DAF cogwheel/swastika emblem, ink stamp and original signatures.
- Several of the certified copies bear the impressive blue seal and signature of Bremen notary Dr. jur. Gerhard Ernst Kück.
- The group also includes associated A.G. “Weser” Bremen material connected directly with Haverich.
The shipbuilding connection makes the grouping particularly interesting. Haverich’s apprenticeship was undertaken at A.G. Weser in Bremen, and the documents follow his progression from apprentice through increasingly advanced wartime technical education.
All of the pieces belong together and should remain as a single historical grouping. The repeated name, Bremen locations, dates and occupational progression provide excellent provenance and make this substantially more interesting than an isolated DAF certificate.
Condition: Original period documents showing normal age, toning, fold lines, punched filing holes, edge wear and handling consistent with their age. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition and content. Sold as the complete 10-document Wilhelm Haverich grouping shown.
An excellent research group for collectors of Deutsche Arbeitsfront, DAF, German labor history, vocational education, Bremen industrial history, A.G. Weser shipbuilding, German engineering, technical training and WWII-era documents.
