WWII Nazi German Wehrmacht Heer Army Officer Silver Metal Breast Eagle – Assmann

Offered here is a very high-quality reproduction of a WWII German Wehrmacht Heer Officer’s silver metal breast eagle, patterned after the removable metal insignia worn with the white summer uniform.

The impressive insignia features the traditional spread-winged Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreath and swastika. It has a bright silver-colored finish with sharply defined feathering throughout the wings, breast and head.

Metal breast eagles of this type were produced for wear on the Heer officer’s white summer tunic, where a removable pin-back insignia was practical when the uniform required cleaning. Period Assmann catalogs document a Brust-Hoheitsadler für weißen Rock—breast national eagle for the white tunic.

The reverse features a long horizontal pin, hinge and retaining catch, allowing the eagle to be attached to a uniform in the traditional manner.

Of particular interest is the “A” maker mark visible on the reverse. This represents F. W. Assmann & Söhne of Lüdenscheid, one of Germany’s well-known manufacturers of military insignia and decorations. The company used the stylized A as one of its manufacturer marks.

This reproduction measures approximately 3¾ inches (9.5 cm) from wingtip to wingtip, as shown alongside the ruler in the photographs.

The combination of its substantial size, polished silver appearance, crisp detailing, period-style pin construction and Assmann marking makes this an excellent display-quality reproduction.

IMPORTANT: This is a modern high-quality reproduction and is NOT being represented or sold as an original pre-1945 manufactured insignia.

Excellent for a Wehrmacht Heer officer display, white summer tunic restoration, reenactment uniform, historical exhibit, replacement insignia or militaria collection.

Please examine all photographs carefully for exact size, construction, maker marking, finish and condition. Sold exactly as shown.
