WWII WW2 German Wehrmacht Soldiers Occupied France Verdun Luggage Photo lot x 2

Original lot of 2 WWII German photographs showing Wehrmacht soldiers traveling with a large amount of military luggage and personal equipment.

Both photos show soldiers standing on a street with numerous suitcases, cases, bags and packs, apparently preparing for departure or transport. These are excellent candid wartime images showing the logistical and everyday travel side of military service.

The handwritten inscription on the back of one photograph appears to read:

“Vati fährt auf Verdun.”

Translation: “Dad is leaving for Verdun.” / “Dad is going to Verdun.”

This identifies the scene with Verdun, France, an especially interesting location with major military significance.

Both are original period photographs with scalloped edges. Each measures approximately 3.5 x 3.5 inches. See ruler for size comparison. Light age and handling wear as shown. Sold together as the 2-photo set pictured.
